Diel patterns of foraging and microhabitat use by sympatric rainbow trout and bull trout: implications for adaptive differentiation and instream flow assessment

چکیده
Salmonids make flexible and adaptive trade-offs between foraging efficiency predation risk that result in variable patterns of diel activity habitat use. However, the following remains unclear: (1) how differ among salmonid species; (2) this affects interpretation suitability models inform instream flow management. We combined snorkel observations with experimental additions cover to investigate risk, cover, bioenergetics affect use by sympatric rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) bull (Salvelinus confluentus) Skagit River, British Columbia, Canada. Both species foraged primarily at dusk, supporting well-described trade-off risk. only responded additions, suggesting tolerance nature foraging-predation species. Diel shifts also substantially altered predictions models, potentially large consequences for

patterns and variations in native and non-native interlanguage pragmatic rating: effects of rater training, intercultural proficiency, and self-assessment
although there are studies on pragmatic assessment, to date, literature has been almost silent about native and non-native english raters’ criteria for the assessment of efl learners’ pragmatic performance. focusing on this topic, this study pursued four purposes. the first one was to find criteria for rating the speech acts of apology and refusal in l2 by native and non-native english teachers...

15 صفحه اولDiel foraging and shelter use of large juvenile brown trout (Salmo trutta) under food satiation
The diel partitioning of juvenile brown trout Salmo trutta foraging behaviour is controlled by a number of factors including predation risk, competition, temperature and food availability. The present study uses PIT-tagging and visual observation to asses the use of shelter and foraging behaviour of Danish wild juvenile brown trout (13.5–15.6 cm). The experiment was conducted in a fluvarium and...
متن کاملSummer Microhabitat Use of Fluvial Bull Trout in Eastern Oregon Streams
—The management and recovery of populations of bull trout Salvelinus confluentus requires a comprehensive understanding of habitat use across different systems, life stages, and life history forms. To address these needs, we collected microhabitat use and availability data in three fluvial populations of bull trout in eastern Oregon. We evaluated diel differences in microhabitat use, the consis...
متن کاملPatterns of hybridization among cutthroat trout and rainbow trout in northern Rocky Mountain streams
Introgressive hybridization between native and introduced species is a growing conservation concern. For native cutthroat trout and introduced rainbow trout in western North America, this process is thought to lead to the formation of hybrid swarms and the loss of monophyletic evolutionary lineages. Previous studies of this phenomenon, however, indicated that hybrid swarms were rare except when...
